Regarding the current revelations about the BBC and the behaviour of certain DJs dead and alive - does anyone recall the radio interview with Vi Subversa in early 1983 on Saturday Live on Radio One. I am not sure whether the interview was live or recorded, though the programme itself was live every Saturday from 4 to 6.30pm. She was in to talk about ‘Where’s The Pleasure’. I think she was on her own. She mentioned in the interview about a certain well known radio DJ who was a rapist. She did not name the DJ and the interviewer (Andy Batten Foster?) seemed annoyed she even mentioned it. It went way outside the boundaries of the type of interview normally featured on the programme - good natured chats to promote someone’s latest album. But obviously the BBC broadcast it and must not have held it against Poison Girls as the same programme played ‘Are You Happy Now?’ when it came out a year later and Vi was in talking on the OGWT in late 84 too (as well as ‘Real Woman’ being shown briefly). Quite gutsy that she was prepared to publicly venture into what was very definitely a no go area until now nearly 30 years later.

You can say that, but I can't possibly comment! Enough to say that the DJ in question was not Savile.
I do remember that interview, and if I remember correctly it was with Tommy Vance (him of the Blockbuster voiceover bass voice and a liking for heavy metal and classical music!!). I don't know how we got onto the programme as we were asked to do precious little 'mainstream' media. Certainly the BBC only paid lip service to us. The normal route would have been through the Peel show. As I have said before, we never got to do a Peel session, though just about every band that ever played with us did at least one.

Richard
Tommy Vance interviewed you, Vi and Lance in late 81 for the same show when ‘Total Exposure’ came out. Maybe you are thinking of that interview? I thought it was a good interview but I remember the PG bulletin/mailout expressed dissatisfaction with the editing of it.
John Peel always came across as quite immature for his age!

I remember that interview, it was in 83 around the Where's the pleasure period. I clearly remember Vi stating that christ nearly 30 years ago, and I have a job remembering what I did yesterday!
